Modelo 720 Spain:
Foreign Assets — Declared Correctly.
We assess your case first. Free of charge.
If you’re a Spanish tax resident with assets abroad above certain thresholds, Modelo 720 may be mandatory. A dedicated specialist reviews your situation first — then handles the full declaration if required.
Important: Modelo 720 has historically carried very severe penalties for non-compliance. While penalties were reduced following a 2022 EU court ruling, the obligation to file still applies — and late or incorrect filing can result in significant fines.
What is Modelo 720
and who must file it?
Modelo 720 is Spain’s informative declaration of foreign assets. It requires Spanish tax residents to report assets held abroad — including bank accounts, investments, real estate and life insurance — when they exceed certain thresholds.
It is an informative declaration — it does not generate a direct tax payment. However, failure to file, or filing incorrectly, can have serious consequences. The details matter, and getting them right requires professional guidance.
Not sure whether you need to file? Contact us — your specialist will assess your situation for free before recommending anything.
Do I need to file
Modelo 720 in Spain?
The obligation applies if all of the following are true. Not sure? We’ll assess your situation for free.
You are a Spanish tax resident — you spent more than 183 days in Spain during the tax year or your main economic interests are in Spain.
You hold assets abroad — bank accounts, investments, property or life insurance held outside Spain.
The value exceeds €50,000 — the general threshold per category is €50,000 in combined value. Each category is assessed separately.
You have not previously declared these assets — or the value has increased by more than €20,000 since your last declaration.
